Do Not Stop
#31
There is no shortcut, there is no hack. There's only one way so get after it. - Jocko Willink
Welcome to August: the month you realize you were way too late for your summer beach body and may as well start now on a Christmas reunion cut. I don't care what date it is, just put the work in. Do it because you know you will feel better. Do it because you know you could be better. Self-improvement is indeed a lofty goal that some misconstrue as merely a form of dissatisfaction with self- me.
Don't forget to share this blog with a friend or family member who could benefit.
Fit Tip: Do Not Stop
There are a lot of mistakes to be made when it comes to taking good care of your body, but the only mistake that will cause you to fail is to stop. It is hard to get fit and it will take longer than you think. It is easy to overestimate what you might accomplish in a months time and become disappointed. Instead, don't underestimate what you could accomplish in a year's time. It's not about the perfect summer transformation; you aren't too late if you are not on track with your pre-wedding fitness plan. Just keep showing up. Never stopping is what turns you into a fit person vs. a slowly less and less fit person.
Podcast I Enjoyed: Diary of a CEO: Dr. Seheult
I have shared an interview from Dr. Roger Seheult before and here he is again presenting on a very popular podcast. He is an extremely smart doctor who still practices in three different hospitals as an intensivist. Somehow he finds time to make informational and educational videos on his MedCram channel (some of which helped me get through school.) In this interview he discusses the pillars of longevity focusing largely on what he has discovered about light and its role. A unique part of this interview that made it especially intriguing was the ending. The host ends by essentially asking "what is one of your expertise you never get asked about, but want to talk about?" Dr. Seheult holds up his Bible and says, "this." He then proceeds to explain his search for evidences in the Bible of scientific truths we have learned much later and makes an interesting parallel between the structure of the Tabernacle and our cell structure. The whole interview is worth a listen.
August Challenge: Hip Mobility
Spend this month focusing on your hip mobility. We all sit too much and it's hard to avoid. Let's wake those hips back up with 2 minutes a day dedicated to some mobility drills. We will start things off with the 90/90 position. Another great way to keep those hips awake is some daily squatting. Picking something up off the floor? Try squatting low next time. Need a quick desk break? Do a few squats.
Win the weekend!
