"What a blessing it is to be tired in the pursuit of a challenge of your own choosing"
Fit Tip: There is No Specific Exercise You NEED
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned lifter, there is no one exercise that you MUST include. There are certainly exercises that are fantastic and may provide a lot more benefit than other moves. If these are intimidating and keeping you from lifting weights at all, then relax and forget about them. I also bring this up as a popular social media tactic is to post a short video with this kind of message: "The ONE exercise you need to be doing!" These kind of taglines can make you feel like you are far from optimal and maybe even wasting your time training. Remember, they are just fishing for clicks. If you simply have goals of getting stronger and healthier (aesthetics naturally follow) then no one specific exercise is going to keep you from that. Do what you are comfortable with for a while and progress to other moves as you get more confident in the gym.

Mind Pump is my favorite fitness-related podcast. They take live calls and help people with their fitness in many of their episodes. In this video, they invited one of their callers on to the show to tell his weight loss story. Everyone loves a good transformation story, but what was great about his story was the practical approach and the wise rules he set for himself that led to success. His mindset was the first thing he adjusted. He also evangelizes resistance training as a must when losing lots of weight. Whether you have 20 or 200 pounds to lose, this episode might be worth listening to.
Challenge For the Week: One Small Fast
I decided to set the bar pretty low this week, just in case there are some who have never paid attention to how often they eat. At least once in the next week go for 16 hours without eating or drinking anything besides plain water. Some of you may regularly accomplish this by basically skipping breakfast. That's fine, it is not the most important meal of the day (we were lied to about that. Google it. Dr. John Harvey Kellogg made that idea popular and even used it as a marketing campaign for his cereal.)
Win the weekend!
