Fit Tip: Schedule Your Workouts

Schedule your workouts like you schedule everything else. Put it on the calendar or it will become the first thing to go as soon as anything comes up. Rarely do you skip dinner, brushing your teeth, or showering for days at a time, yet many will easily neglect their just as necessary workout. Make a backup plan in the event that you miss or skip a workout. If x happens I will do y. If you are attempting the early morning workouts as I highly recommend, lay out your clothes ahead of time. This simple tip makes it so much easier to follow through with the plan. The same concept can be used for a workout at any time of day; basically you are attempting to eliminate any barriers to getting your planned exercise in. Whatever extra steps you can do ahead of time will not only save you the time and excuses later, it also prepares you mentally for the active work. That cold water bottle you prepared ahead of time will then stare you down until you put in the work.

Black Friday Shopping?

Happy Thanksgiving! What better way to show how thankful we are for all we have been blessed with than to run out the next day and buy cart-fulls of stuff. Perhaps you are thankful for the body you have been given and the means to take care of it in which case I will link you back to my home gym building guide: https://durabledads.blogspot.com/2025/02/if-you-build-it.html

Black Friday may have some great deals if you are looking to get some equipment brand new, but know that there are always weights for sale on Facebook marketplace.

November Challenge: Stop Snacking

Snack foods are generally not healthy foods. The whole idea of snacks was brought to life by food manufacturers who wanted to sell you pre-packaged morsels. Our everyday demands do not require frequent snacks. The blue collar workers with physically demanding jobs probably only get one break to eat and they are expending a lot more energy than the grazing desk jockeys.

If your snack is a banana or some nuts on the go, just know I don't have a problem with bananas and nuts. However, if that banana or handful of nuts are used to cope with a dreaded hour window without munching on something, then reevaluate your relationship with food.

Eat real food, for real meals. Nothing after dinnertime.

Win the weekend!
